Colton Destrempes
Marriage and Family Therapist Intern
Colton was born and raised in Northern California and has called Nevada home for the past 15 years, where he has grown to love the beauty and freedom the state offers. He attended both Truckee Meadows Community College and the University of Nevada, Reno for his undergraduate education before beginning his graduate training in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Colton has worked in group homes supporting men with criminal backgrounds and has also served foster youth, focusing on advocacy and building supportive connections. He believes in meeting clients where they are and takes a pragmatic approach in his work, drawing on Narrative and Solution-Focused therapies to help people reframe challenges and move toward realistic, achievable goals. He also has an interest in helping clients use their hobbies as opportunities to practice skills in natural, safe, and meaningful ways.
How I stay healthy: Spending time with my fiancée, fostering kittens and enjoying all the cuddles, enjoying plenty of gaming, and making trips to Lake Tahoe.
