What We're Doing to Reduce Stress (Part 4)

To help you, the community, in managing your stress, we at Zephyr surveyed our employees for their top stress management strategies as they specifically apply to this COVID-19 situation. This is a continuation of our ongoing series. (You can read the previous posts on our blog: part 1, part 2, part 3.)

If you have specific questions about any of these (or want to contribute your own), please shoot us an email and we will reply the best that we can. Also, search our media and articles page for the topic that most interests you and perhaps you will find a podcast or video about it. And, of course, you can always make an appointment with us.

We understand that this list is neither comprehensive nor applicable to everyone, so please take what you can or, if you have more to offer, please do so and we will add them in! Also please share this list with your friends, neighbors, and family because it sure doesn’t do any good locked up here on this page by itself. We all deserve peace and healing right now and Zephyr is honored to be a small part of that.

Grouped by staff member and in no particular order, here is our gift to you, humor included:

  • Find home projects I have been procrastinating on.

  • Read books I have been procrastinating on.

  • Connect with family and friends via video chat.

  • Exercise, whether that is inside or outside.

  • Get outside as much as possible. Hiking, bike ride, walk around the neighborhood.

  • Cook and bake. Try new recipes.

  • Make sure my house stays clean.

  • Stick to a routine.

  • Make sure I don't spend all day just wearing sweats. Dress up for work at home, a walk around the neighborhood.

  • Catch up on TV shows.

  • Watch parts of old Giants games

  • Attempt to learn Spanish (we will see how that one goes).

  • Use the Headspace app for moments of mindfulness and quiet.

  • Play online games with a friend like Trivia Crack and Words with Friends

  • Stay busy and have a sense of productivity/get organized and clean up. My yard and garage have never looked better going into spring.

  • Pick up heavy things and put them down. Repeat.

  • Walk the dog/kid(s) often and generally just try to get outside as much as possible (weather permitting).

  • Get up, shower, get dressed, have a plan for the day.

  • Talk openly with my spouse about how we're doing, ask for/offer each other help and grace, tag-team the kids.

  • Minimize my exposure to the news. My anxiety doesn't need constant boosters about the river rising and the sky falling.

  • Jam out to music while making dinner.

  • Include my three-year-old in as much as possible. He also enjoys feeling helpful and productive.

  • Devote time to spiritual matters.

We hope you’re continuing to enjoy our series! If you enjoyed this part, check out the rest of the series: part 1, part 2, part 3. Tune in for the last post of this series. If you have any suggestions on how you’re reducing stress in your life, shoot us an email to contribute. And, please share this post if you enjoyed it!
