Lexie Hughes
Marriage and Family Therapy Practicum Student
Lexie was born in Butte, Montana, and raised in Sparks, Nevada. She is married and shares her home with her sweet fur baby, Whiskey. Lexie has a background in both education and mental health, having spent several years coaching kids in gymnastics, swim, and tennis. During her undergraduate years in Montana, she gained valuable experience working in both inpatient and outpatient treatment settings. After moving back to Nevada, she worked as a central coordinator for a local therapist, which inspired her to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a therapist. Lexie is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University.
Lexie is passionate about working with children, teens, and young adults. She enjoys building genuine connections and creating a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space in therapy. Lexie often uses Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients identify their strengths and take meaningful steps toward their goals. She also incorporates techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, tailoring her approach to meet each client’s unique needs. Her goal is to help clients build self-awareness, increase resilience, and feel more balanced in their daily lives.
How I Stay Healthy: I stay healthy by spending time outdoors, walking with my dog, and journaling to process and reflect. I also prioritize meaningful time with my husband, family, and close friends, staying connected to the people who bring me joy and support.
